Land Acknowledgement
AIRE is located on the traditional lands of Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anisininewuk, Dakota Oyate, and Dene and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. We acknowledge the presence of Indigenous nations and the ongoing impact of settler colonialism. We are committed to learning, respecting, and supporting Indigenous communities in pursuing justice and reconciliation.
Driven by a commitment to empowering individuals, Dr. Veras works to bridge the empowerment divide by advancing technologies that not only improve quality of life but also enable people to actively participate in their own care. Her research focuses on the transformative role of artificial intelligence in healthcare, with applications spanning primary care, rehabilitation, and long-term care. This includes innovations in remote health monitoring and AI-driven rehabilitation designed to optimize outcomes and improve system efficiency.
The AIRE Lab is dedicated to ensuring that the future of health innovation is inclusive and equitable. We develop knowledge and technologies that support people across the lifespan and across diverse communities, with particular attention to addressing inequities faced by racialized groups. Grounded in the principles of digital health justice, dignity, and inclusion, our work ensures that advances in AI and rehabilitation benefit all people.
