Video Abstract
Article Highlights
a. Why did we undertake this study?
The growing potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare offers opportunities to enhance the quality of care for older adults, but to guide future research and interventions, we need to better understand AI-powered exercise programs, the evidence gaps in their effectiveness, and the quality of existing reviews.
b. What is the specific question(s) we wanted to answer?
1. What AI-powered exercise programs exist for older adults?
2. What are the primary evidence gaps in AI interventions for functional improvement and mobility in aging populations?
3. What is the quality of existing reviews on this topic?
c. What did we find?
The study aims to map the current evidence, evaluate the quality of systematic reviews, and assess the effectiveness of AI-based interventions in promoting functional improvement and mobility among older adults. Preliminary results will identify significant evidence gaps, particularly in equity, health services integration, and humanization of AI-based interventions.
d. What are the implications of our findings?
This comprehensive analysis will inform future research directions, improve clinical practices, and influence policy decisions to optimize AI-driven solutions for aging populations. Addressing the identified gaps will lead to more equitable, effective, and human-centred AI interventions for older adults, improving their independence and quality of life.
